The average person will speak 123,205,750 words in a lifetime. But what if there were a limit? Oliver and Bernadette are about to find out. The play imagines a world where we are limited by a law to a maximum of 140 words per day. It's about what we say and how we say it; about the things we can only hear in the silence, about dead cats, activism, eye contact and lemons, lemons, lemons, lemons, lemons.

A miracle of modern science: Charlie Gordon, a man with an IQ that low that he can't get by on his own, is suddenly a genius. A surgery successfully triples his IQ and completely turns his world around. But the effect doesn't last and Charlie goes back to his former state. Only now he knows what he is lacking.

Lift Not the Painted Veil tells the story of Mary Shelley and her creation Frankenstein. An old Mary Shelley in her final hours is visited by her creation. Through this meeting Mary is transported back to the period when she got the ideas for her famous novel. But why is the monster here? What does he want?

by Mary Shelley (adapted by Svenja Baumann)

In the second half, the Creature himself gives his account of the story through Mary Shelley’s famous words. The often neglected perspective of the so-called “monster” uncovers, where the actual horror of Frankenstein lies: Prejudice, isolation, vengefulness and the lack of responsibility that human-beings feel for each other. Who are the real monsters in our society?
