OPENING AND ARTIST TALK ON JUNE 9 5PM Museum für Völkerkunde Hamburg
Air pollution, water scarcity, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, climate change: these human-caused environmental problems are all of our concern. But what role can artists play in the face of the pressing problems of our time? The [ESCAPE] exhibition has taken up this question and based on two workshops, coordinated by Virgílio Ferreira, Krzysztof Candrowicz and Christian Barbe, that brought together a group of artists to exchange experiences and contents. The aim was to question the artistic practice and promote the discussion on sustainable cultures and environmental issues.
[ESCAPE] is the beginning of an open-ended project which should not only be interpreted as critical evidence but also as an invitation for action.
Part of the project: Cláudio Reis, Constanze Flamme, the artist collective DUAE (Luna Coppola and Silvia Campidelli), Jayne Dyer, Lisa Hoffmann, Marco Caterini and Pawel Kowalski. A project in cooperation with Ci.CLO Platform of Photography, Porto.
